Use Gmail as your SMTP Server on Identify when it’s using 2-step verification

For the sake of enhancing security your Google account may be using 2-factor authentication, also known as 2-step verification. When enabled, you must log in to Gmail with both your password and your phone. This prevents hackers who get your password from getting into your account, since they won’t get the security code sent to your phone. You can go to https://myaccount.google.com/security to verify your Google acount:

As a result, when you want to configure Identify to use your Gmail account to send emails out, e.g reset password emails, you need to configure what Google calls an app password:

Signing_In_To_Google_App_Passwords

Click the App passwords button and you’ll see a screen where you can set one up:

App_Passwords_Disable_Generate_Button

Choose “Mail” on the “Select app” drop down list and choose “Other (custom name)” on the “Select device” drop down list:

App_Passwords._Enable_Generate_Button

Enter a name (I use “Identify” but it can be any name you like) and click Generate button. Here is what you get:

Generated_app_password

Log on to the Identify*Admin, go to the System Setup page/Email server to create your Gmail email server:

Email_Server

Enter the generated password above to the password setting:
